The Phone Bank Team was started in December 2022 by Virginia Beach and Norfolk Democracy Center Leader, Janice Gay. The team is made up of young, Virginia activists. It is our goal to not only educate the community but to also have the community participate in the work.
Beginning with only a few young phone bankers they were able to make over 6,000 phone calls within a seven day notice during the week of Christmas to call voters for Virginia's 4th Congressional District Firehouse Primary.
Since then, the team has grown to 16 people, averaging 5,000 calls a week!
